WHAT TO EXPECT IN A STANDARD VISIT
From the moment you walk through the doors you will be greeted with a friendly smile and warm welcome from our wonderful reception team. If this is your very first visit to a chiropractor our experienced team take the time to get to know you, make sure you are comfortable and provide you with all the information you need to have a beneficial time with us at the clinic. There will be some paperwork to complete to ensure we’ve got all your details, and then you’ll meet your chiropractor.
Your chiropractor will talk with you about why you have chosen to seek chiropractic care and will determine if chiropractic is the right choice for you. If it is, then your consultation will start with a case history and general health history. Next your chiropractor will perform an examination including postural analysis, orthopaedic testing, neurological testing, and joint and muscle palpation. Your chiropractor may also refer you for x-rays to provide more detailed information about a specific condition. Combining all this information gives us a clearer picture to be able to deliver the best possible recommendations for your health.
With all the information now available your chiropractor will discuss with you your proposed care plan, and depending on your situation, your chiropractor may begin your care right away.
How many times do I have to come?
This varies patient to patient. Your practitioner will tailor a care plan to achieve the best result for you. Like choosing to go to the gym regularly, having your teeth checked or your hair cut regularly, how often you choose to benefit from chiropractic care is always up to you. Once your symptoms are under control and your spine has been stabilised you will become eligible to join the Preferred Member Platform.
Many of our patients choose to join the Preferred Member Platform where they can have a regular monthly checkup at a considerable discount to our regular fee and where appointment times are reserved ahead of time for them.
Is chiropractic painful?
Our Practitioners undertake a five-year university degree and many have additional training in a variety of techniques that can be modified for the safety and comfort of their patients.
Is chiropractic safe for children?
All Active Spine Centre chiropractors have been trained at a university level to treat children from newborns to early adulthood. Techniques are modified for the safety and comfort of your child in relation to evidence-based practice.
Published Research carried out by researcher and chiropractor Dr. Angela Todd, has shown that chiropractic, physiotherapy, manual medicine and osteopathy all carry a very rare but material risk (1). To minimise risks, our chiropractors perform a thorough history and examination of a child before beginning any care. All Chiropractors are trained to modify their approaches to suit the special needs of infants and young children. Our chiropractors work with your regular GP and will refer to them were necessary.
Many of the techniques used on children by the chiropractors at Active Spine Centre involve massage, gentle stretching, cranial therapy and the use of a special instrument to apply very low and specific impulses to restore normal spinal motion. Several of our chiropractors have a special interest and post graduate training in chiropractic neuro-developmental paediatrics which focuses on incorporating specific chiropractic care with brain based activities, exercises and nutrition.
